Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how HomeCommand uses cookies and similar technologies on our website (homecommand.ai) and application (app.homecommand.ai).

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to the site's owner.

Similar technologies — such as local storage and session storage — serve comparable functions but store data directly in your browser rather than sending it as a file. This policy covers both cookies and these browser-based storage mechanisms.

2. Cookies on the HomeCommand Website (homecommand.ai)

Our marketing website is a static site built with Astro. We do not set first-party tracking cookies on this website. We do not use advertising networks, tracking pixels, or behavioural analytics on this website at this time.

We do not load any third-party scripts or resources on the marketing website that result in your personal data being shared with an external party.

3. Local Storage in the HomeCommand App (app.homecommand.ai)

The HomeCommand application does not use cookies for authentication. Instead, we use browser local storage to store the following:

KeyPurposeTypeDuration
hc_tokenStores your authentication token (JWT) issued after login. Required to keep you signed in across page loads.Strictly necessaryUntil you sign out or the token expires
hc_demo_modeTracks whether you are browsing the demo (unauthenticated) version of the app.FunctionalSession / until cleared

These entries are stored locally in your browser. They are not transmitted to third parties except as part of authenticated API requests to HomeCommand's own backend.

Strictly necessary storage (the authentication token) is required for the app to function. Blocking or clearing it will sign you out. We do not require your consent to store it because it is essential to a service you have explicitly requested.

4. Third-Party Technologies

4.1 Analytics and advertising

We do not currently use advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or behavioural analytics tools on either our website or app. If we introduce such tools in the future, we will update this policy, add appropriate disclosures, and obtain your consent where required.

4.2 Google sign-in

If you choose to sign in to HomeCommand using Google, you are redirected to Google's own sign-in page. Any cookies or storage that Google sets during that flow are governed by Google's own policies and are outside HomeCommand's control. HomeCommand itself does not set any additional cookies as a result of Google sign-in.

5. Managing Your Preferences

5.1 Browser cookie settings

Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Common instructions:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Cookies

5.2 Clearing local storage

You can clear local storage for the app at any time using your browser's developer tools (Application → Local Storage). Doing so will sign you out of the HomeCommand app.

Note: Because we do not currently use consent-requiring cookies or analytics, we have not implemented a cookie consent banner. If we introduce tracking or analytics cookies in the future, a consent mechanism will be added in line with applicable regulations (GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, CCPA).

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as we add new features or third-party integrations. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you through the app or by email.
