Understanding Your Home Health Score

Your Home Health Score is a single number that reflects the current condition of your home based on the documents and issues in your HomeCommand dashboard.

Your Home Health Score is available on the free Basic plan — it is populated from your first uploaded inspection report. Multi-document analysis, the AI assistant, and warranty insights require Pro. See the full plan comparison →

What the score represents

The Health Score is a number from 0 to 100. It is calculated from the open issues in your dashboard — specifically their severity and category. A higher score means fewer or less serious problems. A lower score signals that there are unresolved issues that need attention.

The score starts empty until you upload your first document. Once your inspection report (or other documents) are processed, issues are extracted and the score is calculated.

Score bands

85 – 100 — In good shape

Your home is in solid condition. Focus on preventive maintenance to stay ahead.

70 – 84 — Some issues to address

A few things need attention. Prioritize high-impact issues to move the score up.

55 – 69 — Needs work

Multiple issues are affecting your home. Create an action plan and work through them systematically.

0 – 54 — Needs prompt attention

Critical or multiple high-severity issues are unresolved. Address the most serious items first.

What affects the score

The score is influenced by two main dimensions of every issue: severity and category.

Severity

Issues are classified into four severity levels:

  • Critical — Immediate safety concerns or major structural problems. These have the largest negative impact on the score.
  • High — Significant issues that should be addressed soon to prevent further damage.
  • Medium — Issues that are important but not urgent. Address these over time.
  • Low — Minor observations or cosmetic items. Minimal impact on the score.

Category

Issues also belong to one of three categories, which affect their weight:

  • Safety & Integrity — Issues that affect the structural soundness or safety of the home. Highest weight.
  • Functional Decline — Systems or components that are not working correctly. Moderate weight.
  • Comfort & Cosmetic — Aesthetic or comfort-related items. Lower weight.

How to improve your score

Your Health Score improves as you resolve open issues. Here is how to make progress:

  • Focus on Critical and High issues first. These have the largest impact on the score, and addressing them first moves the needle the most.
  • Log completed repairs. When you complete a repair, mark the issue as resolved in your dashboard. HomeCommand will recalculate your score immediately.
  • Add more documents. Uploading warranties, repair receipts, and other documents helps build a more complete picture of your home's condition over time.
  • Stay current on maintenance. Completing seasonal maintenance tasks prevents small problems from becoming bigger issues that drag the score down.

What the score does not measure

The Health Score reflects what is documented in your HomeCommand dashboard — it is not a formal appraisal and does not factor in:

  • Market value or property appreciation
  • Cosmetic preferences or renovation choices
  • Local building codes or permit history
  • Issues that are not in any of your uploaded documents

Tip: use the score as a to-do list

The dashboard shows you which open issues are in each category and severity bucket. Use the Issues page to filter by "Safety & Integrity" and "Critical" or "High" severity to identify exactly which items to tackle first for the biggest score improvement.
